Secret 7

Idea 1

I then cropped it down to be square
Then I edited the brightness and

contrast values and colourised the
photo to try and make it look like
dry cracked ground, similar to an
earthquake. I was happy with the
outcome, the dark colour links in
with the dark nature of the song.
The previous image printed very

poorly, and so I re-edited it again
using levels and curves. This variation
is much more clear whilst still
retaining its dark nature. This one
is slightly redder than the last one as
well, which represents passion.

Idea 2

The initial photo I took. I chose to

try and create a grainy affect round
the edges as the photo looked too
empty without it, as shown below.

I then cropped down the image to
make it square and centralize the
heart a bit more.
I experimented with changing the
colour to red, to symbolise both
love and blood, but I felt this did't
work very well as it was too bright.
To counter this I lowered the opacity
of the red and placed it on top of the
original images to give the photo a
warm feeling. I think this works quite
well because the warm feelings and
connotations of coffee contrast with
the cold ones of divorce.

Idea 3

The original photo I took cropped
down to a square for the record
sleeve size.
I changed the levels, curves,
brightness and contrast to make
the glass more reflective and clean.
I then did a quick photoshop job
and put a crack down the side of
the glass. It's not the most convincing
job but it gets the idea across enough
to display in the interim crit. I don't
want to spend ages making it look
realistic only to get feedback saying
one of my other ideas is better.

Idea 4

My initial photo. It was meant to show an adult walking
past a troubled youth. The idea is that the age difference
represents a difference in time, to match the lyrics
"someday we'll be drinking with the seldom seen kid".

I changed it to black and white greyscale using the
desaturation option, and played with the brightness,
contrast, levels and curves to make the photo look a
bit more dramatic.

I then cropped down the image to square to fit the
record sleeve. I gave it a slight blue tint to try and make
it feel a bit colder, but I made the metal frames on the
slide and swing a lot brighter to try and highlight the
supposed innocence of youth. This also tones down
the blue tint slightly due to contrast, without it loosing
its effect.
